Pherzawl: Pherzawl District joined the nationwide observance of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas (JJGD) and BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week with a series of environmental awareness activities aimed at promoting sustainable living and strengthening environmental responsibility among communities and students.

As part of the observance, the Pherzawl Forest Division organised plantation activities under the national campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (Plant4Mother) at Pherzawl and administered the Citizen Life Pledge, encouraging people to adopt environmentally responsible lifestyles and contribute towards environmental conservation.

Schools under the jurisdiction of the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Pherzawl, also took part in the campaign by organising awareness programmes focusing on reducing plastic consumption, improving waste management and inculcating environmentally responsible habits among students.

Highlighting the importance of responsible waste disposal, e-waste collection drives were conducted at Tuolbung High School, Parbung Higher Secondary School and Kangreng Government High School. The initiatives sought to sensitise students to the environmental concerns associated with improper disposal of electronic waste and encourage responsible disposal practices.

The activities reflected a collective effort by the Forest Division and educational institutions to promote environmental awareness, encourage sustainable practices and involve the younger generation in protecting the environment.
