Patriots’ Day observed across districts of Manipur

Imphal: Patriots’ Day was commemorated in several districts across Manipur, reflecting widespread reverence for the heroes of the Anglo-Manipur War.

In Thoubal, the District Administration observed the 133rd Patriots’ Day at the Counting Hall of the DC Complex. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner A. Subhash Singh, ADM B. Lokeshor Sharma, the 3rd IRB Commanding Officer, SDOs, SDCs, DLOs, and staff of the DC office.

During his speech, DC Thoubal reminded the gathering of the supreme and selfless sacrifices made by the forefathers during the freedom struggle. He emphasized the need for greater unity and cooperation among the people for the society’s growth and development. Drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of the past, he urged the attendees, especially government employees, to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication to build a better, vibrant, and developed district.

The observance began with floral tributes led by the Deputy Commissioner, who honored the photographs of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General. A ‘Prabhat Pheri’ was held earlier in the morning, starting from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex at 4:00 am.

Patriotic songs were played throughout various locations in the district, instilling a sense of patriotism. Later, a “Har Ghar Tiranga” signature campaign was also held at the DC Office Complex, Thoubal.

Meanwhile, in Kakching, the District Administration also observed the 133rd Patriots’ Day at the DC Office Complex. The event was marked by the presence of DC Kakching, Rohit Anand, ADM Moirangthem Kapajit Singh, and other District Level Officials, who paid floral tributes to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General, the valiant heroes who sacrificed their lives fighting against the British Empire in 1891.

As part of the Patriots’ Day observance in Kakching district, a social service was organized within the DC Office Complex, followed by a tree plantation drive. Various saplings were planted, led by DC Rohit Anand, with the participation of other district officials.

Additionally, a full dress rehearsal for the 78th Independence Day, 2024, was conducted at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex in Kakching on the same day.
