Pari Awards presented to Oinam Arun, Langthabal Robindro and Asem Binoy

The highlight of the concluding day was a folk song competition of young upcoming folk singers and the presentation of the Pari awards to three eminent artists from different fields.

Imphal: Curtains came down on the ten-day long 19th ‘Sachipu Inaat Ngaikhang Kummei 2024’ organized by Ima Leishem Inaat Loishang which began on April 24, at Panthou Eeshaikonung, Nongpok Chingu Thong, Meitei Laikol, Tharo Sipilok on Friday.

The highlight of the concluding day was a folk song competition of young upcoming folk singers and the presentation of the Pari awards to three eminent artists from different fields.

In the folk competition, Samulailatpam Babli came 1st Pukhrihongbam Bidyalucmi Devi while Mongjam Khambiton Chanu was adjudged the 3rd best singer by the jury.

Prof Paonam Gunibndro Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University of Culture was the chief guest for the Pari Award function while Mrinashree Mairenbam, Jt Director, Arts & Culture, Government of Manipur and Sumatibala Devi, President, Ima Leisem Laishang were the guest of honour.

The  Pari Awards which carry a cash prize of Rs 50,000/- and a citation each were awarded two very popular Shumang Kumhei artists, Oinam Arun and Langthabal Robindro both of whom excelled in playing many memorable female roles and Meitei Pung maestro, Asem Binoy for their immense contributions in their respective field. The awards were handed over by Prof Paonam Gunibndro Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University of Culture.
