Operation Kaveri: Another 288 evacuated from Sudan, more Indians arrive in India

When the fighting broke out between rival factions, there were over 3,000 Indian nationals living in Sudan, besides around 1,000 Persons of Indian Origin.

New Delhi: A 14th batch of rescued Indians numbering 288 persons left Sudan on board INS Teg, totaling nearly 2,700 Indians evacuated from the strife-torn African nation under Operation Kaveri, while more flights carried rescued nationals back to India from the transit point of Jeddah.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in a late night tweet said:
“14th batch of Indians leaves Port Sudan under #OperationKaveri.
“288 passengers onboard INS Teg are enroute to Jeddah.”
Earlier in the evening, a sixth flight arrived in India carrying 365 Indians rescued from Sudan, totaling around 1,900 Indians to arrive in India so far.
“More Indians come back home under #OperationKaveri.
“365 passengers have just landed in New Delhi,” EAM S Jaishankar in a tweet said.
In the morning, over 1,600 Indians arrived in India.
Last night, the 13th batch of Indians, numbering 300 left on board INS Sumedha for Jeddah where India has set up a control room.

“13th batch of Indians evacuated under #OperationKaveri,” the MEA spokesperson said.
Yesterday, two batches of Indians arrived in India – one batch of 362 Indians touched down in Bengaluru, while another C-17 flight carrying 392 passengers reached New Delhi.
India on Thursday deployed the third naval ship for the rescue operation, INS Tarkash.
