Imphal A team of NAB- PS recovered 45 Soap Caps containing suspected Heroin powder (No.4) which was concealed in the modified fuel tank of the Eco Van on Friday at around 11.00 pm.
The Eco Van (Grey in colour), bearing Registration Number MN04/P-0584 was driven by one Manglallem Gangte (27 yrs), son of Limkhojang Gangte of Songdo village, Churachandpur Sub-Division.
The NAB team was conducting random frisking and checking near Manipur University gate by way of patrolling at some vulnerable areas in Canchipur area. On spot verification, Manglallem Gangte stated that he procured the suspected drug from one Chongneo from Moreh Ward No.1. to be handed over to one woman by the name Chongpi from Jiribam who would be waiting in Imphal.
Manglallem Gangte was arrested at 11.35 pm on Friday and the suspected Heroin No. 4 weighing around 562.5 grams along with the Eco Van were seized at the spot. A case is registered at NAB PS and investigation was initiated, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
