Shillong: An oil tanker caught fire on the Shillong Bypass in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district on Thursday after it had overturned and collided with a light vehicle.
However, the driver of the ill-fated oil tanker bearing registration number NL01 N 4287 fled away from the scene, while four occupants of the light vehicle bearing number ML05 Z 5124 sustained minor injuries, a police official said.
The mishap occurred at Mawpun Kshiad area. Immediately after the mishap the traffic on the highway was stopped and fire tenders rushed to douse the flame. Meanwhile, police have registered a case.
