Observers and DEO meet with candidates’ representatives in Imphal East

The observers appealed the candidates to strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Model Code of Conduct, and to extend full support for a ‘free, fair and peaceful election’.

Imphal: In relation to the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly General Elections, a meeting highlighting the poll preparedness and the major issues in the poll process was held Saturday at the Panchayat Bhawan of Imphal East DEO Office, presided by the DEO Kh Diana .

The meeting was attended by General Observers Anil Kumar, Narbu Wangdi Bhutia, K Lalrinzuali and Police Observer Deepak Barnwal. Returning Officers (ROs) of the all the ten ACs of Imphal East, District Nodal Officers and the authorized representatives of all contesting candidates took part in the meeting. 

The observers appealed the candidates to strictly adhere to the guidelines of the Model Code of Conduct, and to extend full support for a ‘free, fair and peaceful election’.

They also responded to the queries of the representatives and cleared doubt in certain key issues such as use of flags, expenditure matters, permission for procession/ meetings, proper channel and authority to put any complaints up etc. 

District SP M Pradip appealed to all not to take law into their hands when it comes to any issues or conflicts related to elections, and to put it up at the authority concerned. He further assured that the district police will leave no stones unturned to ensure a peaceful and fair election free from any kind of money or muscle power. 

DEO Kh Diana appealed all the contesting candidates to adhere to the ECI guidelines and to make the ensuing elections a free, fair and peaceful election and make Imphal District a model for all other Districts when it comes to conduct of successful poll process.
