Nurses share more time with patients than docs: Dr Ranjan

Imphal: Health and IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh said that nurses share more time with the patients. The Minister was speaking as Chief Guest on the occasion of Foundation Day and Oath Taking Ceremony of 1st Semester B.Sc Nursing Students of the College of Nursing, Lamphelpat. 

The occasion was attended by Dr. Kh. Shasheekumar Mangang, Director of Health Services, Manipur, Dr. N. Surbala Devi, Principal, College of Nursing Lamphelpat, Lalbiekmol, Joint Director, Nursing and Th. Nandarani, Registrar, Manipur Nursing Council as President and Guest of Honour respectively.

Highlighting the importance of smile in the life of a nurse, the Minister said everyone in this world, even the most powerful or famous people, we humans can never be in the fullest or perfect form. Moreover, we don’t experience the fulfilment that is what we face every individual. We have different kinds of issues in life, so instead of becoming the victims let us overcome the issues or difficulties we face and rather live with a smile.

Dr Ranjan also appealed to the nurses to follow the philosophy of what they believe in.

Speaking about patient care, the Minister said that even when the patients were discharged from the hospital, they might never know their names but the love and care nurses provide while treatment will live with them forever. This is the most important part of the life of a nurse, Dr Ranjan added. 

The minister further stated the temperament to be a nurse is there in Manipuri nurses, that is why our sisters are very popular and many of them got placement jobs in big hospitals outside our state. 

Later, Minister, Dr. Shri Ranjan and his team inspected the work progress and preparedness of the Churachandpur Medical College which sets its session this month. 

The Minister also inspected the Ayush Hospital, Moulvaiphei, Churachandpur and advised the concerned agency and contractor to complete the structure at the earliest. The Minister was accompanied by State Mission Director, NHM, Manipur Dr. Somorjit Ningombam, Director Ayush, Dr. A. Guneshwaor Sharma, Joint Directors, Deputy Secretary (Health) and others.
