New Delhi: The Congress on Tuesday categorically said that no one has the right to play with religious statements.
The party statement comes amid controversy over a poster of a documentary shared by filmmaker Leena Manimekalai.
Leena has stoked a controversy after she shared the poster of her documentary film ‘Kaali’, wherein the goddess is portrayed in poor light.
In the poster, Goddess Kali can be seen smoking. A flag of the LGBT community can also be spotted in the background.
“I have not seen it yet. But, nobody has the right to play with religious sentiments. This is what our party believes,” Congress chairman of the Media and Publicity Department, Pawan Khera told reporters here when asked about the controversy that created a social media storm.
Leena received a barrage of condemnation from the netizens for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, and they demanded her arrest.
