No trace of ‘missing’ Army men hit by avalanche in Arunachal

Seven Indian Army personnel, part of a patrol team, were reportedly stuck after being hit by an avalanche in the high altitude area of Kameng sector in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday.

Itanagar: There is no trace of the seven Army personnel who were reported to have been trapped after being hit by an avalanche in the high altitude area of Arunachal Pradesh’s Kameng sector on Sunday, Defence sources said on Tuesday.

“There is no update yet although an intensive search and rescue operation is on,” the Tezpur-based Defence PRO, Lt Col Harsh Vardhan Pande said.

Seven Indian Army personnel, part of a patrol team, were reportedly stuck after being hit by an avalanche in the high altitude area of Kameng sector in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday.

“Search and rescue operations are currently underway. Specialised teams have been airlifted to assist in rescue operations”, the Defence PRO had said.

The area has been witnessing inclement weather with heavy snowfall since the last few days, Pande had said.
