No new “On shop” license in rural areas in Odisha during 2023-24

The license fee could be paid in four equal installments. District Collectors are authorised to issue temporary licenses as per the fee structure.

Bhubaneswar:No permission will be given for opening any new ‘ON’shop in rural areas in Odisha during 2023-24.
No new application for ‘ON’ shop license shall be accepted for rural areas in the financial year 2023-24, the new excise policy announced by the Odisha government on Thursday said.
In urban areas, a new ON shop license can be granted only for star hotels and other hotels having the minimum number of rooms to be decided by the Excise Department.
In the new policy, the application fee for new/renewal of foreign liquor ‘OFF’ shops has been hiked to Rs 1.2 lakh from Rs 1.1 lakh.
Similarly, the annual composite Label registration fee for FL OFF shops, FL ON shops for the sale of all brands through the shop has been fixed at Rs 50,000.
The license fee could be paid in four equal installments. District Collectors are authorised to issue temporary licenses as per the fee structure.
As per the excise policy, the Excise department will issue licenses for the sale of liquor at cottages on beaches, eco retreats near lakes, dams and designated water bodies.
The license will be available for the sale of liquor in cottages run by the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation and agencies authorised by it in a bid to promote tourism.
