No fixed timeline for completion of vaccination drive: Govt

New Delhi: The government on Friday stated that no fixed timeline at present can be set for the completion of the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive.

However, the government expects all adults to get vaccinated by December end.

The information was given by the Minister of State of Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar in a written reply to Lok Sabha over several questions raised by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.

Gandhi had asked about the timeline of the ongoing vaccination drive, the vaccine doses expected to be available, the money spent so far, and whether there was a significant delay in the advance purchase agreement.

Over the availability of vaccines, the minister replied between August and December, a total of 135 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine are expected to be available.

A total of Rs 9725 crore have been spent so far over the procurement of vaccines and inoculation, Dr Pawar said.She said there was no delay from the government side in the advance purchase agreement.
