Agartala: The Comptroller of Patent has granted exclusive rights to an Electrical Engineering scholar of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala for his innovation of Electro Solar Hybrid Tricycle branded as Greed Ride for commercial use.
NIT sources said the inventor of the machine Saptadip Saha under the supervision of Prof Priyanath Das had developed it in 2015 when India had been contemplating green technology in the transport sector to reduce emission and in 2016 he sought patent of commercialisation of the technology.
After long scrutiny and validation of the product, the authority recently awarded a patent to the Department of Electrical Engineering, NIT Agartala for the machine as, “A multiple power source based electrical drive” for 20 years.
Saptadip Saha said, “This tricycle can be operated at a speed of 20 – 30 km per hour with the help of both solar as well as electrical energy. The various embodiments of this invention disclose as multiple power source-based electrical drives for a vehicle comprising a plurality of solar panels.”
A Maximum Power Point Tracking controller, an electrical charge controller, a battery panel, a charge and motor controller, a throttle controller, an electric brake, differential gear and brushless DC motor would be major components of the product for smart transport in the city, he pointed out.
The objective of this invention is to provide the feasibility of earning for poor people residing in India without investing in any fuel cost. This invention has been indeed a great contribution to the carbon natural lifestyle, as committed by India to the world forum for the reduction of carbon footprint.
