Night curfew in Itanagar Capital Region from May 1

However, essential and emergency activities/ services will continue during the night curfew.

Itanagar: In the wake of the rapid increase in cases of Coronavirus in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), the district administration on Friday decided to impose a night curfew in the region from 2100 hours to 0500 hours daily, starting from May 1 to contain the spread of the virus.
This will be in force till further orders.
However, essential and emergency activities/ services will continue during the night curfew.
“There is an unprecedented surge in Covid-19 cases observed in the Itanagar Capital Region and there is an urgent need to consider strict Covid management and control measures to bring the situation under control.As an emergency measure for well being and safety of the people of the ICR and in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 it is felt that night curfew needs to be imposed in the territorial jurisdiction of the region except for essential and emergency activities/ services,” ICR District Magistrate (DM) in-charge Talo Potom said on Friday.
“I do hereby impose night curfew from 9 PM to 5 AM daily within the Itanagar Capital Region, w.e.f. 1 May, 2021, except for the movement of emergency / essential services and following exemptions, till further orders,” an order issued by the DM read.
As per the order, movement of officers/ officials involved in emergency services such as Health & Family Welfare and all related medical establishments, police, prison, fire and emergency services, district administration, disaster management and related services, NIC, NCC and municipal services and all other essential services on production of valid identity card will be allowed.
All private medical personnel such as doctors, nursing staff, paramedical staff, etc and other hospital services such as hospitals, diagnostic centres, clinics, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies and other medical and health services will also be exempted.
Pregnant women and patients for getting medical/ health services will also be allowed.
During the curfew, movement of officers/ officials related to functioning of offices of diplomats as well as person holding any constitutional post , electronic and print media will be allowed on production of valid identify card.
According to the order, any person violating this order shall be liable to be proceeded against as per provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 besides legal action under Section 188 of IPC and other legal provisions as applicable.
It may be mentioned here that active Covid cases in the ICR stood at 290.
