Night curfew imposed in Manipur after confirmation of Omicron case

Imphal: Manipur government has decided to enforce night curfew from 2100 hours to 0400 hours, ban entertaining programmes and large gatherings in view of the confirmed Omicron cases in the state.

Rajesh Kumar, Chairperson, State Executive Committee of the State Disaster Management said in an order on Wednesday that in view of reported increase of infection by the highly mutant Covid-19 variant B.1.1529 (OMICRON) in the country and reports regarding likelihood of people gathering in large numbers for celebratory programme has been received it was decided to ban music concerts, entertainment programmes, celebratory feasts, large gathering of people in enclosed areas or indoor halls and impose night curfew.

Manipur has a confirmed Omicron case and all his close contacts were traced .

He asked all District Magistrates to strictly enforce the restrictions by invoking relevant provisions of law. The order shall remain in force till January 31, 2022.
