Imphal: A team of officials from the New Development Bank (NDB) Head Office in Shanghai, China and country office representative, called on and met with Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur and Minister-in-Charge, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Losii Dikho yesterday at the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office in Mantripukhri, Imphal, to review the progress of NDB-assisted water supply and related infrastructure projects in the State.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the implementation status of the Manipur Water Supply Project, along with other NDB-supported initiatives relating to water security, urban infrastructure, sanitation and climate-resilient water management.
Deputy Chief Minister, Losii Dikho emphasised the importance of timely and effective implementation of the NDB-assisted projects, particularly in ensuring reliable and sustainable drinking-water supply to the people of Manipur, including rural and underserved areas.
The meeting also discussed the need for close coordination among the NDB, PHED and other concerned departments to address implementation-related issues, expedite ongoing works and ensure that the intended benefits of the projects reach the people at the earliest.
Special emphasis was placed on strengthening water-supply infrastructure in areas facing shortages, improving distribution networks, enhancing the sustainability of water sources and ensuring proper operation and maintenance of completed assets.
The Deputy Chief Minister appreciated the continued support and cooperation extended by the New Development Bank towards strengthening Manipur’s water and urban infrastructure. He expressed the Government’s commitment to working closely with NDB to ensure effective utilisation of the assistance and successful completion of the projects.
The NDB officials also appreciated the PHED officials for the progress and development of the project where more than 80 per cent have been completed in spite of the law-and-order problem in the state. NDB officials expressed their commitment to continued engagement with the Government of Manipur not only with PHED but also with other department in the Health and Education Sector as well.
