Pune: NCP Minority wing today agitated near Collector office demanding their long pending issues of Reservations.
The issue of Muslim reservation has been pending for many years, the Muslim community are 80 percent backward, reservation is the need of the hour to bring community into the mainstream, said NCP President Prashant Jagtap and Party Spokesperson Pradeep Dada Deshmukh here today.
The Agitation was organized under the guidance of NCP Minority wing head Samir Ansar Shaikh. Mr Shaikh said that in 2014 when the when NCP and congress was in power, a Rane committee was appointed in which it was the 16 percent reservation for Maratha community and 5 percent reservation for Muslims was declared by then government, but Bharatiya Janata Party opposed it and the matter went to court, Shaikh added.
The High Court ordered that Muslims should get 5 percent reservation in education, but again when BJP came power nothing was done further for Muslim reservation despite community has raised the issue from time to time, he added.
He said that we protested on a large scale many times but the present state government is ignoring the Muslim community reservation.
Mr Shaikh further said that Maharashtra winter session of assembly is going on in Nagpur, in a view to convey the demands, we have took out Morcha at Pune district collector office today added Shaikh.
State government should implement Muslim reservation immediately, otherwise we would come out on the streets and stage a large protest throughout Maratha, he added.
The leaders were participated including NCP Minority President, Sameer Ansar Sheikh, Prashant Jagtap, Arvind Shinde, Pradeep Deshmukh, Mufti Shahid, Anjum Inamdar, Faiyaz Khan, Rahul Dambale, Usman Tamboli, Mushtaq Sheikh, Qari Idris, and a large number of office bearers.
