Imphal: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a man along with huge WY tablets and drugs on Saturday evening.
The accused has been identified as Shingsei Letminthang Haokip, 41, son of Tongjapao Haokip of Tuisomjang village, under Sugu police station. Currently, he is staying at M Chahnou village, under Tengnoupal district.
Fifty-five soap caps containing suspected no. 4 heroin powder weighing about 600 gms and 10,000 WY tablets weighing about 1 kg which were kept concealed in the fuel tank of one Hyundai Creta car bearing registration no. MN-03A-0470 was seized from the arrested person, said an official of the Bureau.
The car and a mobile phone were also seized from his possession.
Police said the accused was arrested while conducting random frisking and checking at Makhan village crossing between Sekmai and Kanglatombi as a part of drive against illicit trafficking of drugs in view of the ensuing State Assembly election.
Preliminary investigation reveals that Haokip brought the seized contraband items from one person from Myanmar bordering Manipur, to be delivered at Kanglatombi along NH-2 to one lady drug trafficker and then further to other states of the country, showing national and international ramification.
A cas has been registered at NAB-PS in this regard for investigation, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
