Nagaland records 56 new COVID positive cases, 4 deaths

Altogether 73 patients who previously tested positive for the virus have recovered, taking the tally of recoveries to 22,251.

Kohima: The new cases of COVID-19 in Nagaland yesterday further came down to 56 new cases, which increased the total number of COVID- 19 cases in the state reached 25 thousand mark with the total of 25, 017 patients so far as of Monday yesterday.

According to a Nagaland Health Department bulletin Tuesday, among the 56 fresh COVID cases yesterday, of them Kohima reported 25 cases, Dimapur with 17, seven in Mokokchung, six in Peren and one case in Kiphire. The bulletin said that Monday’s fresh cases were detected from among 968 samples that were tested, returning a daily positivity rate of 5.78 per cent. Among the new cases, 26 were from self-tests and random tests, 16 from armed forces or security personnel, 12 from traced contacts and 1 each from returnees or travelers and front line workers.

Altogether 73 patients who previously tested positive for the virus have recovered, taking the tally of recoveries to 22,251.

With this the number of active cases in the state stands at 1,523. The bulletin informed that 1,311 active cases were asymptomatic, 154 mild symptomatic, 33 were moderate on oxygen, 11 were severe on oxygen, 7 were in ICU without oxygen and 7 were in ICU with oxygen.

The bulletin informed with two patients each in Dimapur and Kohima succumbed to the infection and one each in Kohima and Peren, pushing the death toll to 493.
