Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister and Chairman of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Agency (NSDMA) Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday highlighted the importance of being well prepared to face the monsoon months from June to September next in order to avert any major disaster during the erratic monsoon season in the state, so as to save the lives and state infrastructures like roads and buildings.
According to official sources, the monsoon preparedness meeting was held through video conference at the CM’s Secretariat on Wednesday and was attended by ministers, administrative heads of departments and head of departments of the line departments and DCs & Chairman DDMA. In the meeting Rio said that the monsoon based on the metro-logical data was made by NSDMA, monsoon preparedness of roads major sector was given by PWD (R&B) Department, emergency operation and response preparedness was made by Home Guard & Civil Defence and SRDF, while monsoon preparedness measures in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic was presented by the Health & Family Welfare and monsoon preparedness and availability of essential commodities was highlighted by Food & Civil Supplies Department, which was followed by interaction and feedback from the Deputy Commissioners and Chairman DDMA of all the district.
