Kohima: The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), the union of six tribes of eastern part of Nagaland, which has demanded for ‘Frontier Nagaland,’ a separate state curved out of the state, has reminded people of Eastern Nagaland to abstain from participation in the forthcoming Indian Republic Day celebration on January 26.
According to a release issued by ENPO media cell, it was informed that the ENPO President R Tsapikiu Sangtam reaffirmed the joint resolution made on December 14, 2021 at Longleng between ENPO along with all civil societies of eastern Nagaland that public of eastern Nagaland.
It also informed that the December 14, 2021 resolution was to “extend non-cooperation to the Indian security forces” till justice was delivered to the families of victims in particular and Nagas in general, against the “gruesome killings of innocent public in Mon district by the Indian security forces” on December 4 and 5, 2021.
It said the non-cooperation will include (i) abstention for any national celebrations or such activities, (ii) non-participation in Army civic programmes, (iii) non-attendance to any Indian army official invitations, and (iv) not to allow any recruitment drive within eastern Nagaland area. In addition, respective tribal bodies under the ENPO have been asked to take responsibility to mobilise the general public for the non-participation in the said function within their respective jurisdictions, the release said.
