Kohima: The High Court Bar Association of Kohima Bench has greeted the Nagaland Chief Minister and his Cabinet Colleagues for reportedly giving unanimous approval for a separate High Court of Nagaland.
In a letter, copy of which was released to the press, the Bar Association said that they have learned that the Chief Minister and his Cabinet Colleagues have unanimously approved in the Cabinet Meeting for separate High Court of Nagaland.
This is a milestone decision which is accepted with sincere gratitude by the members of the Bar,” the Association stated in a letter to the Chief Minister. The letter said the State is incomplete in the absence of the main three organs enshrined in the Constitution of India, the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary, and the Bar has been grieved for long awaiting this policy decision, it said.
The Association also informed that the Nagaland State Cabinet has taken the decision at the right time in “honour of the assurance” given by the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio during the Nagaland Bar Association’s Golden Jubilee programme on September 27, 2019. It further noted that the Circuit Bench in Kohima was established in December, 1972 and the High Court Bar plans to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2022, the Association urged the CM, his colleagues and the Legislators in general to save the pride of the State and act on a war footing pace to have our own separate High Court, the letter said.
