Agartala: BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Thursday said Indian youths under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been gradually stepping towards self-reliance and India has become the fifth largest economy in the world despite Covid pandemic and conflict in Ukraine.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of Jana Biswas Yatra termed as Vijay Sankalpa rally in the city Nadda sought votes for the second term of BJP government saying that Tripura has developed tremendously under BJP’s rule where minimum support price (MSP) as many as 90 indigenous products was announced and 50,000 tribals got employment opportunities in Van Dhan Kendra in the state.
Tripura government has introduced MSP for paddy, lined up the export of horticultural produces, and increased the number of consumer items in the public distribution system including sugar, soybean, Masoor dal tea, and edible oil and spices will soon be introduced in the rationing system to extend support to the poor people.
Highways, internet ways, railways, and airways (HIRA) were our mission of development and Manik is our Chief Minister – Modiji connected Manik with HIRA, Nadda observed, adding that BJP always thinks of holistic development.
He recalled, “In 1993 when I first became an MLA, BDO used to come to me to select the beneficiary for the IAY house – sanctioned only one for a block but today thousands of houses are sanctioned for the rural people because of the vision of PM.”
Criticizing CPI(M) and Congress, Nadda said, “These parties don’t want to come to power to serve the people and develop the state, rather they intend to get into the government to loot the public money. The development records of Tripura under communists and congress in four decades were not to that level what it has been under BJP in five years.”
Tripura now has seven national highways; the state is connected with the national capital by train beside other major Indian cities, Agartala airport was rebuilt with international facilities, the healthcare system has developed and the law and order of the state improved than what it had been under CPM’s rule, Nadda claimed.
“There was no political murder in Tripura in five years of BJP rule,” the BJP chief claimed.
There was only one All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) during the Congress regime but today 23 AIIMS are ready to start functioning, only 387 medical colleges were there in seven years of Modiji; it rose to over 700 and medical seats increased to 80,000 from 30,000, he stated.
“As many as 1.5 Cr youths become skilled under Skill India Mission, which has made the country’s foundation very strong. 2.80 lakh km optical fiber spread to connect villages under the digital India mission, India was importing 92 percent of mobile phones in 2014 today we are exporting more than half the global demand,” Nadda claimed.
India has become the third automobile manufacturer in the world after the USA and China under Modiji’s leadership. The pharmaceutical business increased by 138 percent, and defense export increased by 364 percent in the country, for which India was dependent on others.
He arrived here on Thursday to attend on a chartered flight from Delhi and received a rousing welcome at MBB airport by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, and other senior BJP leaders. He chaired the BJP core committee meeting to finalize the strategy ahead of the upcoming assembly poll and discussion on the party candidates slated for next month.
Nadda attended a roadshow in the city before addressing the rally followed by the public contact program at Lankamura locality along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The Union Home minister Amit Shah commenced Jana Biswas Yatra in two mammoth rallies at Dharmanagar of North Tripura and Sabroom of South Tripura on January 5 last.
Both the rallies on chariots covered about 1600 km across 56 constituencies of the 60-member house over a week and dozens of BJP leaders including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Bollywood superstar Mithun Chakraborty have joined the Yatra in various locations of the state.
