Ulan Bator: Mongolia’s COVID-19 cases have increased by 2,422 to 206,457 over the past 24 hours, the country’s health ministry said Saturday.

The latest confirmed cases were all local infections, 571 of whom were detected in the national capital Ulan Bator.

The disease has so far claimed 924 lives after one more patient died in the past day.

More than 12,800 COVID-19 patients are now hospitalized across the country, with 200 in critical condition, the ministry added.

Health authorities have urged the public to follow all relevant health guidelines as the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus is spreading fast across the country.

So far, 64 percent of Mongolia’s population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 since a nationwide vaccination campaign was launched in late February.
