Modern education will be accessible to poor children through e-learning

The Union Education Minister said that in this era of technology, job profiles and employment opportunities are changing very rapidly.

Hamirpur (HP): Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that special emphasis was being laid on the inclusion of technology in the education system and to make modern education accessible to the poorest of the poor children through e-learning.


Dharmendra Pradhan was addressed as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of a modern computer center built at a cost of about Rs 47 crore 11 lakh and e-classrooms built at a cost of Rs 16 crore 62 lakh on the campus of the National Institute of Technology Hamirpur on Tuesday.


He said that the National Education Policy-2020 has focused on children and students in the age group of 3 to 23 years and a provision of Rs 3 lakh crore has been made for holistic education of children. Dharmendra Pradhan said that NITs can play an important role in improving the education system and incorporating technology into it. For this, NIT Hamirpur should also come forward and discharge its social responsibility. Apart from the students studying here, other students of Himachal should also get the benefit of this prestigious institute.

The Union Education Minister said that in this era of technology, job profiles and employment opportunities are changing very rapidly. While many jobs are being lost, many new employment opportunities are also being created. Institutions like NITs will also have to adapt to these new possibilities.


Dharmendra Pradhan said that NIT Hamirpur has achieved many commendable milestones in its journey of 36 years and its ranking at the national level is very good. He said that apart from resolving all the pending issues of the institute on a priority basis, appropriate steps would be taken soon to provide an adequate quantity of drinking water to the institute.


Speaking on the occasion, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that the government had made a provision of crores of rupees for infrastructural development on the NIT campus. Apart from the students of the institute, other children of Himachal Pradesh should also get the benefit of this infrastructure and modern facilities.


Thakur said that school children should be made to visit NITs and familiarize themselves with the laboratories, and other educational and sports facilities of the institute, so that they can take advantage of these and be able to perform better.


Anurag Thakur urged the teachers of NIT to interact regularly with the school children also and guide these children. Students of the institute should also work towards career counseling by becoming mentors of school children.


On this occasion, the Director of NIT, Professor HM Suryavanshi welcomed the chief guest, special guest, and other guests and informed them about the achievements of the institute.
