Senapati: MLA, 47- Karong AC, J. Kumo Sha, Saturday inaugurated the first “Eat Right Mela” in the district under the theme ‘Eat Safe, Eat Healthy & Eat Sustainability’ at Multipurpose Hall opposite DC office Complex, Senapati. It was organised by District Administration in collaboration with Food Safety Administration, Senapati.
Speaking in their Chief Guest speech, MLA J. Kumo Sha stated this occasion of food mela should be annually observed to educate the common people about the food. He said that every individual should know their intake limit of foods for keeping themselves fit and healthy. He urged the food producers and shopkeepers to supply healthy food to their customers by not looking for gain for themselves. He also further appealed to the authority to check out that food sold in the market is FSSAI standard and organised more of this event in the district interior.

Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, Mahesh Chaudhari, in his guest of honour stated Eat Right Mela had already begun in 2018. He also urged the members present to be vigilant citizens by having healthy food habits, understanding food safety and doing regular physical exercise.
Chief Medical Officer, Senapati, Dr Pfokreho Pfoze, said that every sickness and disease began with food habits. He also appealed to take a cautious step in maintaining food habits.

During the programme, there was an interactive session with the expert and a drawing competition among the school’s students present in the second session. 10 food stalls were also installed displaying the food product that is processed in the district itself.
In Saturday’s event, Eat Right Walkathon from Senapati Traffic Point NH-2 to Multipurpose opposite Mini Secretariat Complex, Senapati was flagged off by Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, DC, Senapati.
The Programme was attended by District Level Officers, Civil Society Organisations, students from various schools, various proprietors of food producers, and shopkeepers
