Imphal: Sekmai Assembly constituency MLA Heikham Dingo Sunday appealed to those vaccinated people in the State to continuously encourage and educate people about the importance of Covid vaccination and said that this is the only way to prevent the deadly pathogen and Delta variant.
The Delta variant of COVID-19 is spreading fast to more people. It is also considered to be more dangerous and transmissible among unvaccinated people than other forms of the virus. However, many vaccinated people who get infected carry less Covid-19 virus. This has already been proven by many including health workers who frequently met positive patients and visited containment zones, said Dingo, also Co-convener, Joint Committee on Covid-19.
The MLA stated this while participating in a tree plantation drive at Phayeng Deban Lampak Eco Garden, as a part of the ongoing Balidan Divas programme being held in memory of BJP ideologue Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
By encouraging, he said, the unvaccinated people, they can shed vaccine hesitancy and also their fear of getting vaccinated after some rumours of its ill effects spread nowadays. This will give them trust and confidence, Dingo added.
Newly elected BJP’s state unit president A Sharda Devi, who also joined the programme, appealed to people to take the opportunity for a vaccination, to help protect themselves and their loved ones and help the state move out of the pandemic.
General secretaries State BJP Premananda Meetei, L Deben Singh, GS Organisation N Nimbus Singh, President BJP Imphal West district Ph Phoni, President BJP Sekmai Mandal, OC of Lamsang PS, Pradhan Phayeng Gram Panchayat and many BJP workers were also present.
