Mizoram reports 103 fresh COVID-19 cases, tally at 5,513

Aizawl: At least 103 more people, including 19 children, tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram on Tuesday, pushing the tally in the state to 5,513, an official said.

Thirty-nine new patients have travel history, while 64 were detected during contact tracing, he said.

“Eight Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and two Assam Rifles staffers are among the fresh COVID patients,” the official said.

Aizawl district reported the highest number of new cases at 86, followed by Mamit at six, the PTI reported.

The remaining fresh cases were registered in Lunglei, Serchhip, Kolasib, Champhai and Lawngtlai districts.

Mizoram now has 769 active cases, while 4,731 people have recovered from the disease and 13 died.

The state has so far conducted 2,93,904 sample tests for COVID-19, including 3,488 on Monday.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Lalzawmi said 1,76,327 people, including 43,627 senior citizens, have been inoculated, with 43,264 of them having received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
