Aizawl: Commemorating the 130th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution, Mizoram State Government employees took part in reading out the Preamble of the India Constitution in various government offices today.
A small function was held in the courtyard of the Civil Secretariat building in which Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo led Secretariat officers and staff read the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.
The state government decided against declaring Ambedkar Jayanti a holiday this year and instead organised a special function to read out the Preamble since there are already enough state holidays in 2021 year calendar, the Chief Secretary said.

Since the day coincides with the commencement of Fire Service Week, which is to be observed during 14th-20th April, the Chief Secretary also administered pledge and impressed upon Secretariat officers and staff to strictly follow fire safety measures.
