Mizoram: ECI prohibits exit polls for 48 hours till the end of voting

Any person who contravenes the provisions of this section shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with a fine or with both.

Aizawl: The Election Commission of India(ECI) had notified the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of poll in the respective polling areas in connection with the bye-election to 26-Serchhip(ST) Assembly Constituency of Mizoram for which exit poll, opinion poll or any form of publicity to predict the outcome of the said by-election are strictly prohibited to be published/broadcast/telecast/displayed through Print Media, Electronic Media or any other forms.

Any person who contravenes the provisions of this section shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with a fine or with both. 

The notification further states that conducting any exit poll and publishing or publicizing by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in any other manner whatsoever, the result of any exit poll in connection the bye-election to 26-Serchhip(ST) Assembly Constituency of Mizoram during the period between 7:00 A.M, March 27 2021 to 7.30 PM,  April 29, 2021 is prohibited.
