Mizoram: CM’s Relief Fund for Covid-19 sanctions Rs 1.17 cr for people affected by lockdown

The Committee decided to earmark a total of Rs 61,26,000 to the said families. Lunglei District will be given Rs.10 lakhs while the other 9 districts will receive Rs.5 lakhs each.

Aizawl: The Committee on Utilization of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for COVID-19 which met Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, MINECO has agreed to sanction an amount of Rs. 1,17,46,000 in financial support to distressed families affected by the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown.

Coronavirus pandemic, lockdown and movement restrictions imposed in the capital city of Aizawl and other District Headquarters has badly affected the livelihood of thousands of families across the state. Local/Village Level Task Forces working at the local levels have submitted as many as 3063 households in Aizawl District, currently facing acute financial hardship to the Aizawl Deputy Commissioner.

The Committee decided to earmark a total of Rs 61,26,000 to the said families. Lunglei District will be given Rs.10 lakhs while the other 9 districts will receive Rs.5 lakhs each.

The Committee also sanctioned an assistance of Rs.1,00,000 to Golgotha Camping Centre in Vairengte, which at present, have 40 COVID-19 positive inmates. Further, an amount of Rs.10,000 each to two distressed individuals was also sanctioned.
