Mizoram CM inaugurates completed section of KDZKT road project

The project for Improvement & Upgradation of KDZKT Road from Single lane to Intermediate lane was approved and sanctioned by North Eastern Council (NEC) Commission on January 9, 2013 at an estimated amount of Rs.134.70 crores.

Aizawl: Chief Minister Zoramthanga inaugurated the 84.50 km long completed portion of the upgraded Khedacherra-Damcherra-Zamuang-Kawrthah-Tuilitkawn (KDZKT) Road at Tuidam, Mamit district Friday.

The project for Improvement & Upgradation of KDZKT Road from Single lane to Intermediate lane was approved and sanctioned by North Eastern Council (NEC) Commission on January 9, 2013 at an estimated amount of Rs.134.70 crores.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister emphazised on the importance of good connectivity for economic development, stating that building good roads and upgrading existing ones is one of the government’s priorities. The Chief Minister said that the KDZKT road will boost economic activities tremendously.

MLA Namit A/C, H. Lalzirliana, also commented that upgradation and improvement of the KDZKT road will be hugely beneficial economically and culturally, for people of his district, and for Mizoram as a whole.

The main scope of work includes Formation Cutting of 89.50 km; Unlined side-drain of 45.30 km and lined side-drain of 25.99 km; Protection works of 9085.94 Rm; Construction 35Rm bridge over Hmarliana lui; 325 Cross Drainage Works and Pavement Works of a 74.70 km Intermediate Lane (5.50m width) and 14.80km Single Lane (3.75m width).

The inaugural function organized by MPWD at Presbyterian Kohhran Hall, Tuidam was chaired by Addl. Chief Secretary, JC Ramthanga, , Chief Engineer, Roads, PWD, Bowman gave technical report and the function ended with a vote of thanks from Engineer-in-chief, PWD,
