Minister Rajen distributes face masks, sanitizer for schools, colleges

Imphal: Education Minister S. Rajen Singh has distributed hand sanitizers and face masks for schools and colleges Sunday.

Rajen Singh handed over sanitizers and face masks to Zonal Education Officers (ZEO) of different districts in a simple function held at the office of SSA, Babupara, Imphal. During the distribution function, Minister Rajen said the health kits are distributed with the view to reopening of schools after a break of nine months due to the pandemic of COVID-19. The government has already announced for resumption of classes from 27^th   January, 2021. 

He said the classes from IX and above will be resumed with strict SOPs. Students who are willing to attend schools and colleges from private or government hostels/boarding should possess COVID-19 negative certificate before their joining to boarding and institutions. Rajen Singh said necessary measures for the strict compliance of the SOPs should be taken up by the concerned school and college authorities. Instructions have also been given to the departmental officials to take up possible precautionary measures during the school hours, he added.

The Minister also maintained that classes of Class IX and XI will be conducted in the morning shift while classes of X and XII will be done as usual. He appealed to all the guardians, students, school authorities and staff, civil society organizations to cooperate with the new initiative of the education department. 

Commissioner, Education, T. Ranjit Singh, IAS, Education Director, L. Nandakumar Singh, IAS, Assistant State Project Director, ASPD, T. Phulen, MCS, and other officials from education department were also present during the distribution of the health kits.

Later, the Minister also distributed hand sanitizers and face masks to the principals of different colleges during a function held at the office of the directorate of Education (U). Commissioner Education(U), M. Harekrishna, IAS, Director Education(U), Dr. Rangitabali Waikhom, IAS, staff and officials of education(U) and others were also present during the  occasion.

An interaction programme was also held as a part of the occasion.
