Mesmerised by Arunachal’s colours & history: Conrad Sangma

Sangma, who arrived here last night to a rousing welcome by NPP Arunachal Pradesh unit at the gate, on Monday paid a visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum here along with his wife and other dignitaries.

Itanagar: Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) president Conrad Sangma, presently on a three-day tour to the Arunachal Pradesh capital, has admired the rich culture and traditions of the North East including Arunachal Pradesh, the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’.

Sangma, who arrived here last night to a rousing welcome by NPP Arunachal Pradesh unit at the gate, on Monday paid a visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum here along with his wife and other dignitaries.

Taking to Twitter, Sangma said, “The culture and traditions of the North East are of great significance to our history and our roots. Happy to witness the rich diversity and culture of Arunachal Pradesh on display at the State Museum in Itanagar.”

“India’s ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ has so much culture & traditions embedded in its history. Its many tribes symbolise diversity & its rich fabric interwoven with the stories of Arunachal Pradesh. Mesmerised by its colours & history!” he tweeted.

The Meghalaya CM, who will address the NPP’s Conclave themed “Regional Aspirations, National Outlook” at DK State Convention Centre here tomorrow, also had interaction with the party leaders and members from Longding district of Arunachal today.

“It is always a great learning experience to listen to the aspirations of our people from the region and work towards achieving our goal as a regional party together,” Sangma stated in another tweet.

The conclave, to be addressed by resource persons from diverse fields, is likely to deliberate on topics like ‘Striving for regional aspirations through political aspirations’, ‘NE’s regional politics & challenges’, ‘interplay of religion and politics – evolving scenario in Arunachal Pradesh’, ‘Naga peace process: politics of it & regional ramifications’, etc.
During the day, Sangma also visited the NPP Legislature Party leader Tapuk Taku’s residence at Itanagar along with his better half who were presented with the beautiful traditional attire of the Nyishi tribe by the Seppa East legislator.

Upon his arrival, the workers, leaders of NPP Arunachal Pradesh led by state president Mutchu Mithi accorded Sangma a warm reception at Hollongi check gate on the Assam-Arunachal border, for which he thanked them.

“Glad to be received with so much love by our NPP Arunachal Pradesh unit at Hollongi gate. It feels like home to be in their midst. Thank you team Arunachal Pradesh!”, he tweeted.
