Meghalaya reports more recoveries than fresh COVID-19 cases

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said four deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills districts besides one each from Ri-Bhoi district and West Garo Hills district.

Shillong: Meghalaya reported more recoveries than fresh COVID-19 cases on Saturday as 226 people recovered from the viral infection, bringing down the number of active cases to 1,913 and surged the number of recovered cases to 74,750, health officials said.

The State also reported 138 new COVID-19 taking the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 78,015 as on Saturday. On the other hand, six more persons, all of whom were not vaccinated, succumbed to the viral infections, taking the death toll to 1,352 in the State.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said four deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills districts besides one each from Ri-Bhoi district and West Garo Hills district.

Out of the 138 new cases of infections, the senior medical official said, 66 cases of infections were detected in East Khasi Hills district, 18 in Ri-Bhoi district, 16 in West Jaintia Hills district, 15 in West Khasi Hills district, 11 in West Garo Hills district, six in East Jaintia Hills district, four in South West Khasi Hills district and one cases each in East Garo Hills district and North Garo Hills district.

No new cases were detected in South West Khasi Hills district and South Garo Hills district.

On the other hand, 32,045 health care workers have been vaccinated against COVID-19 with the first dose and 26,361 received the second dose, 96,956 front-line workers got the first jab and 72,329 got the second shot and 9,16,256 persons from among the general public were inoculated with the first dose and 2,52,832 citizens were fully vaccinated with the second dose across the state.
