Shillong: Meghalaya on Thursday recorded one death due to COVID-19 complications, 61 new cases of infection that added up to 516 active cases and 51 more cases of recovery from the viral disease, health officials said.
The State has so far registered 83,527 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1449 fatalities and 81,562 recoveries, as per data furnished by the directorate of health services.
With 31 more cases of recovery from the viral disease recorded today, the number of active COVID-19 cases has further come down to 317 in the East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong and is the most pandemic-hit district, in which 35 new cases were detected on Thursday.
The West Khasi Hills district recorded 13 new cases of COVID-19, West Jaintia Hills district and Ri-Bhoi district recorded four cases each, two cases were detected in South West Garo Hills district, while the East Garo Hills district, East Jaintia Hills district and West Garo Hills district recorded one case each, health officials said.
The number of active COVID-19 cases have further declined in the ten other districts, with West Khasi Hills having 97 cases, 37 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 29 cases in Ri-Bhoi, 11 cases in West Garo Hills, nine cases in East Garo Hills, four cases each in East Jaintia Hills, South West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills, two cases each in North Garo Hills and South Garo Hills.
Of the 11,45,897 persons tested for Covid-19 in the State till Thursday, 10,62,370 were tested negative for the virus.
On the other hand, 32,073 health care workers have received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 and 28,029 have been administered with the second dose, 96,965 front-line workers have got the first jab and 79,973 have taken the second shot, 9,70,067 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 5,14,029 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose across the state as on date, as per the National Health Mission record.
