Bishnupur: Bishnupur District Magistrate has asked all licence gun holders in the district to deposit their firearms with their respective police stations on or before 15 November 2021.
The order was issued in compliance with the direction from the Home Department, Government of Manipur as a precautionary measure in view of the upcoming assembly election, 2022.
The order further instructed anyone desirous of appealing against the order to submit a written justification for retaining firearms on or before 10 November.
Meanwhile, Nitesh Vyas, Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India visited Bishnupur Thursday to review pre-SSR activities, preparedness for Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls 2022 and other poll-related issues in the district in connection with the upcoming State Assembly Election, 2022.Â
Madhusudan Gupta, Secretary (Manipur), Election Commission of India also accompanied Shri Nitesh Vyas in the review meeting held in the presence of DEO/DC Bishnupur, ADC, SP and other officials of the district.
