Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said that through entrepreneurship the potential of the State’s rich natural resources can be harnessed.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Cohort-1 entrepreneurs and on-boarding ceremony of Cohort-2 entrepreneurs, selected under CM’s E-Championship, at Tree House Tura, West Garo Hills, Sangma said that the Government is committed to promote entrepreneurs and create an
enabling environment of opportunities.
He said that through E-Championship, the Government has been able to bring to the fore “passionate youth”, who were keen to pursue careers in entrepreneurship and added that in the last two years, the State Government has successfully uncovered the potential and skills of young people through the programme that has empowered them to take on the challenge of entrepreneurship.
“We have conceptualised the E-Championship Challenge to provide a platform for our entrepreneurs who have the passion but due to lack of opportunities were unable to upscale their business entities. Through this programme, we have identified the best business ideas, and have helped them to upscale their venture. We are providing mentorship and incubation to enable them to take a new leap in their entrepreneurial journey,” the Chief Minister said.
During the event, two noted entrepreneurs from Assam shared their experiences on their entrepreneurial journey. The entrepreneurs from CM’s E-Championship 2020 batch Cohort -1 shared their experiences
during the conclave and expressed their gratitude to the Government.
They said that through the programme they were supported financially as well as techniques to take forward their enterprises.
Most of the graduates from the programme had happy memories to share and said that such programmes initiated by the Government will promote entrepreneurs and youth talent of the State.
The graduates were also given E- Championship Awards by the Chief Minister during the conclave. At Ampati, the district headquarters of South West Garo Hills, Sangma interacted with farmers and distributed cheques to producer groups. “We will set up a Prime Hub (a center for incubation and mentorship) in South West Garo Hills as part of the mission to empower farmers and entrepreneurs through market linkages, interest free loans, technical support & certification of their products,” the Chief Minister said.
