Manipur’s COVID-19 death count crosses 1,000; 752 infections

Imphal: Manipur crossed the grim milestone of 1,000 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday with 10 fatalities being reported over the past 24 hours. Of these, 94 deaths were reported in the past one week alone.

As per Wednesday’s health bulletin, the state reported 752 new cases, taking the tally to 61,848. The death toll stood at 1,008.

Ten persons – One each at RIMS, Shija Hospital and District Hospital Thoubal, three at JNIMS, two each at Raj Medicity and District Hospital Churachandpur expired. Among them four were from Imphal West, one each at Thoubal, Kakching, two each at Bishnupur and Churachandpur.

A total of 8,492 tests were conducted including 7897 RTPC/TruNat in a single day, totaling 8,35,063 so far.

There are 9,078 active cases in the state.

A total of 408 patients recuperated, out of which 295 are from home isolation during the past 24 hours, pushing the number of recoveries to 51,762. With these new recoveries, recovery rate down to 83.69 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1272 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 446 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different facilities of Manipur.

On the vaccination front, a total of 4,77,432 doses have been administered so far this year, of which 4,575 were administered in the past 24 hours, which is reduced by 879 from the previous day.
