Imphal: Manipur police arrested on Thursday two people including a woman along with a large number of cough syrup bottles from a medical store.
The two people have been identified as Md Riyajuddin, 40, son of late Md Joynun of Hatta Minuthong, Golapati, Imphal West and Shamurailatpam Rojina Devi, 39, wife of late Gotimayum Priokumar Sharma of Sumak Leikai, Ward no. II, Kakching.
At least 921 bottles of cough syrup labeled as ‘Delt’ containing Codeine were seized from their possession from Universal Pharma Medical Store, Lamphel Sana Keithel.
The arrested persons and the seized items were handed over to Lamphel Police Station.
Singjamei police seizes liquor
A team of Singjamei Police Station conducted a special drive against selling of illegal liquors in and around Singjamei, Khagempalli and Pechu Lampak area on Thursday and seized illegal liquors in and around Singjamei, Khagempalli and Pechu Lampak area.
The seized items include 40 cane beers, 96, ½ bottle DIC liquor, two Old Monk 750 ml, eight Royal Stag 375 ml four B7 (1 and ½ ltrs), one Mc Dowell ½ bottle, one Mc Dowell 750 ml, two B7 Sterling 750 ml, four Oppa 360 ml, four BP ½ ltr and 3 Quarte.
Illegal liquor dealers: Thongam Ronaldo, 25, son of Th. Tomcha Singh of Khagempalli Panthak, Thongam Premjit, 40, son of (L) Th. Ibotombi of Kha Naorem Leikai, Khumbongmayum Jadumani, 50, son of (L) Kh. Ibobi of Chingamakha, Aheibam Herojit, 31, son of (L) A. Iboton of Chingamakha, Moirangthem Prem, 51, son of (L) M. Birachandra of Khagempalli, Meisnam Jackson, 26, son of (L) M. Anil of Kwakeithel Nganappithong and Athokpam Sarat, 54, son of (L) A. Mangi of Kha Naorem Leikai.
The arrested persons and seized liquors will be handed over to Lamphelpat Excise Station, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
