Imphal: Tengnoupal Battalion foiled cross-border smuggling of gold at Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal District today and seized gold worth about Rs 47.65 lakh.
During routine checking at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi, an EECO van was intercepted. On thorough checking of the vehicle and the passengers, gold biscuits and ornaments worth Rs 47.65 Lakh and Rs 2.80 Lakh in cash were recovered.
The apprehended smugglers, gold items and cash were handed over to Customs Department at Moreh.
