Thoubal: The District Administration, Thoubal Friday distributed the “Chief Minister’s Widow Pension Scheme card” for the first time to 22 beneficiaries who are HIV positive widows of the district.
Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal A.Subhash Singh, IAS give away the pension card to the beneficiaries at a function held at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner Thoubal.
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh launched the scheme on 2nd November last year and is given to the economically weaker Section whose annual income is less than Rs 72,000.
Under this scheme 10,000 widows are targeted to avail monthly pension of Rs. 500 per beneficiaries. For HIV positive Widow and HIV positive Single women the minimum age for the beneficiaries is 18 years.
