Manipur sees huge spike of 259 positive cases, two deaths, Wednesday

Imphal: Manipur continues to be ravaged by the 2nd wave of the pandemic, two more persons succumbed to Covid-19, 252 persons from the general population and 7 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested positive in the last 24 hours leading up to 5:00 am of Wednesday.

During the same period, and 59 persons recovered as per an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.

A 76 -year-old male resident of Imphal East expired at JNIMS Hospital while a 52-year-old male resident of Imphal West passed away at RIMS. The cumulative death toll in the state now stands to 395.

Yet again Imphal West recorded the highest number of cases with 94 persons testing positive, followed by Imphal East with 76 positive cases. Churachandpur recorded 27 cases, Bishnupur 20, Thoubal 11, Kakching 7, Senapati 6, Ukhrul 4, Kangpokpi recorded 3 cases while Jiribam and Tengnoupal had 1 case each.

Meanwhile, there were 59 recoveries which include 47 who were on home isolation, 7 of them were from SHRI, 3 from RIMS and 2 from Rajmedicity. The recovery rate of the state drops further to 94.75%.

Meanwhile, the Health department has instructed air passengers who travelled to the state on April 25 by Indigo Flight 6E-6181 in rows 16 – 21, on indigo Flight  6E – 21 in rows 29 – 35,  to inform Covid Common Control Room 1800343818 or respective District Surveillance Officer (DSO).

The cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 31,001 (General Population — 27,467 and Central Security Personnel — 3,534). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 29,376 (General Population — 25,928 and CAPF— 3,448). The number of active cases is 1230(general population 1148 and CAPF 82).

As per the latest information, the total number of vaccination 14792.

The official release further advised all persons above the age of 45 years to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and select private hospitals.
