Manipur sees big surge of 448 new Covid cases

The two persons who expired are from Imphal West and Imphal East. Both of them had co-morbidities and both had not been vaccinated. The cumulative death tool in the state now stands at 2017.

Imphal: The number of positive cases in Manipur continues to rise by the day. In the last 24 hours leading up to 2 pm of Thursday, 448 persons (415 general population 33 CAPF) tested positive, two persons succumbed to the deadly virus and 66 persons recovered and were discharged, as per an official release from the Health Department.

The two persons who expired are from Imphal West and Imphal East. Both of them had co-morbidities and both had not been vaccinated. The cumulative death tool in the state now stands at 2017.

Of the 415 persons from the general population who tested positive, 201 are from Imphal West, 72 from Imphal East, 66 from Churachandpur, 22 from Jiribam, 15 nfrom Bishnupur, 11 from Thoubal, nine from Kakching, four each from Tamenglong and Senapati and two each from Chandel and Ukhrul.

Altogether, 2,914 persons were tested amounting to a positivity rate of 15.2 %.

Meanwhile, 66 persons recovered and were discharged, 30 from home isolation, 29 from CCCs, five from RIMS and two from JNIMS. The recovery rate of the state stands at 96.58 %

The cumulative number of positive cases in the state now stands at 1, 28,679 out of which 1,24,278 have recovered, leaving 2384 active cases.

The total number of doses administered on January 19, 2022, is 7,403, the cumulative number of doses administered is 24,11,098 (1st dose 13,74,632, 2nd dose 10,26,032) and precautionary 10,384.

There a total of 300 covid beds in JNIMS, out of which 24 are occupied while 276 are vacant while in RIMS there are 190 Covid beds, out of which 36 are occupied and 154 are vacant.
