Manipur reports massive hike of 72 new cases Sunday

Imphal: Manipur reported saw a massive spike of 72 new positive cases which include 51 persons from the general population and 21 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in the last 24 hours leading up to 5:00 am of Sunday. The total active cases in the state, also saw a big jump to 225, out of which 213 are from the general population and 42 from the CAPF, as per an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.

During the same period, there were 7 recoveries; out of which 5 were on home isolation and 1 each are from RIMS and SHRI. The recovery rate dips further to 97.87%.

Of the 51 persons (25 males, 26 females) from the general population who tested positive, 19 of them are from Imphal West, 7 each from Imphal East and Bishnupur, 6 from Chandel, 5 from Kakching , 3 each from Thoubal and Churachandpur  and 1 from Noney. All necessary medical precautionary measures like contact tracing and containment are in place, the release added.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 29,721 (General Population — 26,235 and Central Security Personnel — 3,486). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 29,090 (General Population — 25,650 and CAPF— 3,440).

As per the latest information, the total number of vaccination is106284.

The official release further advised all persons above the age of 45 years to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and select private hospitals.
