Manipur reports 575 new Covid-19 cases, 10 deaths

Imphal West is still the most affected district of Manipur with 228 active cases, followed by Imphal East at 100.

Imphal: Manipur 575 new Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths, in the last 24 hours as per the State Health Department.

With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in the state reached 64, 993 while the total number of fatalities touched 1,065. Also, with 649 discharges in a day, as many as 54,714 people have recovered so far.

Ten persons – one each at District Hospital Churachandpur, Shija Hospital, SDH Moreh, three at RIMS and two at JNIMS expired on Tuesday.  Among them two were from Imphal West, one each at Imphal East, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi and three at Bishnupur.

Also, 4,791 tests were conducted on Tuesday, taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the state to 8,64,216. The state has 9,214 active cases of the disease. The recovery rate is 84.18 per cent.

About 6,304 vaccine doses were administered in the state in the 24 hours ending 5 p.m. on June 22.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1740 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 337 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.

A total of 3,89,302 deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 1,18,313 from Maharashtra, 34,025 from Karnataka, 31,386 from Tamil Nadu, 24,925 from Delhi, 22,224 from Uttar Pradesh, 17,390 from West Bengal, 15,854 from Punjab and 13,395 from Chhattisgarh. The Health Ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
