Manipur registers 432 fresh COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths

Manipur has so far recorded 68,418 coronavirus cases. Of this, over 61,646 patients have recovered while the death toll stands at 1,130.

Imphal: Manipur reported 432 cases of COVID-19, the lowest in seven days and six deaths, the lowest in 10 days, on Monday, according to data shared by the health department here.

Six persons – one each at Shija Hospital, and Babina, two each at JNIMS and DH Churachandpur expired. Among them two each were from Imphal East and Kakching, one each at Kakching and Kangpokpi.

On Sunday, the state reported 669 cases of coronavirus, the fatalities at 16, the highest in two weeks.

Manipur had been reeling under a brutal second wave of the pandemic that is sweeping the country, claiming a massive number of lives daily, next to Assam in the entire northeast India, with the recent oxygen supply shortage issue at various hospitals, adding to the woes.

According to the latest health bulletin, 4,493 tests, including 3,948 RT-PCR/TrueNat ones, were conducted during the day.

With 608 patients being discharged during the day, the tally of recoveries in Manipur reached 61,646 so far, leaving the state with 5,642 active cases, the department said in a report. The recovery rate is 90.10 per cent.

Around 3099 beneficiaries only were vaccinated in the last 24 hours, this is despite the fact that the state government has been making appeals to the citizens of the state to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect from the possible third wave of Covid-19. Government data shows that 5,34103 people have so far been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Manipur.

Meanwhile, the state health department has appealed people with oxygen saturation level below 95 to immediately seek medical advice or shift to Covid Care Centres, Helpline numbers: Covid Control Room number -1800-345-3818, Home Isolation Helpline: 0385-2441230, 0385-2441231.
