Manipur records six COVID-19 deaths, lowest since May 3; 592 infections

Manipur registered 603 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 12 deaths due to the viral disease Friday.

Imphal: At least six people died due to COVID-19 in Manipur in the last 24 hours — the lowest daily count in nearly one and half month since May 3 — taking the overall death count in the state to 1,039. The state also recorded 592 new coronavirus cases, which brought the total caseload to 63,538.

Six persons – One each at RIMS and Shija Hospital, two each at JNIMS and Babina expired on Saturday. Among them one is from Imphal West, three from Imphal Est and two from Kakching.

At least 294 people, out of which 170 are from home isolation, recovered from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the active cases in the state down to 292 at 9,538. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 52,961, while the recovery rate is 83.35 per cent.

The new cases were recorded after 5,873 coronavirus tests were conducted in the state in a day.

Imphal West remained the most infected district in Manipur numbering at 160, and followed by Imphal East at 103. Kamjong has only one positive cases and Pherzawl district has reported no cases of positive or death.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 2049 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 452-B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.

As per the latest information, a total of 4455 persons were vaccinated on Saturday, totaling the number at 489577 in Manipur so far.
