Manipur records 654 new coronavirus cases, 15 fatalities on Friday

Over 3157 tests were conducted to detect COVID cases in the last 24 hours, the bulletin said, adding that more than 3765 people were inoculated against the disease in the said period.

Imphal: With a single-day rise of 654 cases, Manipur’s COVID-19 tally has climbed to 42,565, while the death toll due to the viral disease has shot up to 661 with 15 more people succumbing to it, authorities said on Friday.

According to a bulletin issued by the Manipur government’s health department, the recovery rate stands at 83.65 per cent, which is almost 2 per cent improved from the previous day. The number of active cases is 6298 (General Population – 6161 and Central Security Personnel – 137).  

Over 3157 tests were conducted to detect COVID cases in the last 24 hours, the bulletin said, adding that more than 3765 people were inoculated against the disease in the said period.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1456 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 355 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.

It further said that the first consignment of 250 D type cylinders out of the order of 2000 placed by the government to manufacturer in Gujarat have arrived and received at Silchar. The funding of this 250 cylinders is through CSR contribution of NHIDCL.

Another 182 Type-D oxygen cylinders at Air force base, Silchar have been received by the government on Friday. Out of these 105 are donated by SELCO foundation while remaining procured by Deputy Commissioners of Kamjong, Churachandpur and Tamenglong.
