Manipur records 353 new Covid-19 cases, lowest since May 3; 8 deaths

Imphal: Manipur registered 353 cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths from the virus in the past 24 hours, a health bulletin said here on Monday. This pushed the tally of active cases in Manipur to 9,298.

The total cases in the state have reached 64,418 while the death toll has surged to 1,055.

Eight persons –  one each at JNIMS, Raj Medicity and CCC Lakoipat, and five at RIMS expired. Among them one each was from Imphal West,  Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching and Senapati and three from Bishnupur.

The fresh cases came from a total of 2,272 tests, comprising 1,700 RT PCR/CBNAAT/True Nat and 572 rapid antigen tests, conducted in the last 24 hours.

The health bulletin said only 603 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the past day.

As many as 660 patients, out of which 343 were from home isolation, were discharged in Manipur after recovering from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 54, 065. The recovery rate is 83.92 per cent.

Imphal West has the maximum number of active cases at 98, which is followed by Imphal East at 88, Bishnupur at 55 and Thoubal 32. Pherzawl district has reported neither case of active case nor death.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1882 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 287 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
